I love to start the first day of every year with a zing; this time it was more special, after COVID I really wanted to start 2021 doing something I am passionate about and enjoy doing. I thought of making this day a mix of personal and professional fun.

Me and Pranav, both are foodies, so finally we took a call to go to a restaurant for the first time after COVID. Also, for the very first time, I carried my tripod along and tried making a short video (you can check that on Youtune), as I want to pursue Vlogging along with my blogging.

However, restaurant selection was difficult for us as we wanted to be sure that the cafe / restaurant should follow all the protocols given by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and most importantly we wanted to visit an open-air restaurant (no enclosed spaces due to COVID). Another factor was that we wanted to celebrate New Years with a nice Mulled Wine. Well! after some research I found FIO – Cookhouse and Bar in Nehru Place. New Delhi.

FIO Cookhouse and Bar serves one of the best Mulled Wines in Delhi and they have an open space along with an enclosed area. We immediately booked a table for us.

An Overview About FIO Cookhouse and Bar – Nehru Place

An urban designed cafe in the heart of the city gives you a wide a range of Modern, European and Indian dining. The beautiful ambience indoors and outdoors with an elegant decor makes the place sophisticated, classy, vibrant, romantic and perfect for dates.

The open space works because tables are set apart. The pace is open and safe which is rare in Delhi for open-air establishments on the ground floor. There are no cats and dogs,  (this is a critical criteria for me and my husband).

The staff is courteous and know when to help the customer. They are well trained and extremely polite. Their pride in their work is visible.

Food @FIO Cookhouse & Bar

Food is excellent, good quality and scrumptious at the same time. Their Chefs know how to balance the spices . Their menu has a wide and innovative range of drinks – cocktails, wines and mock tails. Cuisines available – European, Italian, North Indian and Pizzas.

Strange enough, their coffees are equally attractive and exceptionally good. (My lunch / dinner out is incomplete without a good coffee).

The food was delicious and the presentation was exquisite. We couldn’t stop ourselves from meeting their chef and thanking him. It was great having a short conversation with him and getting a glimpse of the process of cooking.

I should not forget to mention the complementary in-house bread they served. It was wonderful, tasty and super soft. Personally, I can specially order that bread from them.

What we Ordered? 

Mulled Wine – The Mulled Wine was super. This hoy drug was good enough yo beat the chilly winters of Delhi. Red wine mixed with some winter spices and homemade fruits puree.

London Dry Betel – This Dandy Cocktail uplifted the whole afternoon. It was looking so attractive and tasted distinguished and fantastic. A concoction of Gin, betel leaf, elderflower, lemon juice, tonic water is a must have drink here.

Napoli Glazed Chicken – It was delectable. The spice balance was unique. Chicken was tender.

Tamarind Butter Sole – I am not a great fan of fish. unlike Pranav. However, this fish was totally outstanding. Again, the spice level was totally remarkable. I will certainly visit the place to enjoy this all over again.

Char Grilled Chili Lime Chicken – Grilled and juicy chicken breasts served with butter poached potato, broccoli asparagus porcini jus. It was delicious, the blend of sauces and spices was fabulous.

Flour-less Chocolate Cake – Soft & sticky chocolate cake served with vanilla ice cream on the side. This was the perfect sweet end to our romantic lunch.

Cappuccino Coffee – I was so amazed after seeing their presentation of serving the coffee. Served with big sized cookies. I am a coffee-addict and always in search of some good places to have my kind of coffee. And FIO is certainly one of them after this.
